The Basic version contains all the codecs that are needed for playing most movies that can be downloaded from the internet. The full version has some extra codecs which are used less often. The full version is also needed when you want to encode your own movies. The full version also includes a good player for movie files.

Well Xvid is a patent infringement, so it would technically also be illegal to use it in the USA and other countries that have software patents in place.

i can assure you it isnt spyware

its just warez as it includes DivX Pro 5.1 (without Ads) and what zivan said about xvid too
