Microsoft Research and the Disney-owned Pixar are offering you a virtual tour of the universe. Your tour guide? WALL-E, the animated robot from Pixar's latest film. You'll need the WorldWide Telescope (WWT), a Virtual Earth for the sky and beyond, if you want to download and use the WALL-E tour. Since WALL-E doesn't have its own voice, Academy-Award-winning director Andrew Stanton narrates the tour. Curtis Wong, manager of Microsoft's Next Media Research Group, explained why Microsoft went with WALL-E: "WorldWide Telescope is about making science fun for everyone. By working with Disney/Pixar, we're enabling kids and families to discover the magic of the universe for themselves in an even more engaging way. What could be more fun than exploring space with a famous robot?"

Was it not made/started by George Lucas?
"The animation studio Pixar was founded as the Graphics Group, one third of the Computer Division of Lucasfilm. Pixar's early computer graphics research resulted in groundbreaking effects in films such as Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Young Sherlock Holmes, and the group was purchased in 1986 by Steve Jobs."
Steve Jobs would not be able to make pop corn in a microwave... [/antiapplejoke]

"Pixar started in 1979 as the Graphics Group, a part of the Computer Division of Lucasfilm before it was bought by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in 1986 and given its current name"

My apologies , I should have said that Pixar was owned by Steve Jobs before being acquired by Disney giving him the largest stake in Disney.
