Months after promising tools that will help weed out copyrighted material on YouTube, Google today launched the beta of its YouTube Video Identification tool for pinpointing pirated content. "Video Identification is the next step in a long list of content policies and tools that we have provided copyright owners so that they can more easily identify their content and manage how it is made available on YouTube," wrote YouTube Product Manager David King in a blog post.
King said Video Identification will help copyright holders identify their works on YouTube, and choose whether to block, promote or monetize their videos if a copyright holder chooses to license their content. The Video Identification tool comes after some scathing comments from critics concerned that Internet sites aren't policing their content well enough.

well... youtube's picture quality, length and codec are poop anyways, i don't use youtube for getting my stuff downloaded anyways.
but boy will many now click ony their links and see that message, it seems to work better than i expected

Youtube is = illegal content + crap videos of cats, webcam and such + 0.0000000001% of original content
So deleting illegal content and absurd video will be the same to delete all but a bunch of videos.

If by "crap videos of cats" you mean "awesome videos of cats," then by all means, I agree.
time will tell...
There is a show I like on TV, just been released on DVD, there were some clips on YouTube ... now there aren't any, if the studo had a brain you'd figure they'd simply put their own clips on and tack "Now available on DVD" at the end, but no, apparently promoting their shows goes against their best judgement ...
Maybe they think that if they ignore the internet they can make it go away...
