The mobile unit of AT&T Incorporated, which is being rebranded from Cingular Wireless, has received about 1 million requests for information on Apple Incorporated's new iPhone, AT&T Chief Operating Officer Randall Stephenson said during a keynote speech at the CTIA wireless technology conference: “One million people have asked us to call when this phone is available.” While the biggest U.S. wireless service is not taking advance orders for the phone, it set up a section on its Web site inviting visitors to leave their e-mail addresses to receive information about the phone when it is released. AT&T will be the first U.S. wireless service to sell the music-playing iPhone when Apple begins selling the phones in June. The iPhone sports a 2 megapixel camera and will be available in two models, 4GB and 8GB priced at $499 and $599, respectively.

Exactly. I just hope the Apply fanboys see that as well.
$599 isn't bad for a pda of that power, video ipod, and phone
i think you all just wanted to complain about something.

Cheaper and SD slot...There are many more (and better/cheaper) of these smartphone than this one
I think you just want to stay trendy.

solutions from palm and blackberry are much much reasonable. usually $100-$200 dollars for top models and free for older models.
iphone's functionalities will not attract business users where the largest piece of pda users are. iphone will wow teenagers who don't have 600 bucks to pay.

It might be a decent video iPod (small storage for video though), but with no apps, push mail, or Exchange sync - it's going to be one lousy PDA. With no 3G support it's going to be one lousy internet device. And being that bulky, it's going to be one lousy phone.
Way happier with my BlackJack.
In iPod mode it's more advanced than an actual iPod, let alone your average music phone/PDA.
In phone mode it has visual voicemail and a multitouch, ultra-intuitive interface. Other phones doing it better? Sheah right!!

Too bad it's not a PDA then...

1. There is nothing "free" in this world unless you mean accessing Yahoo thu WiFi. And even then who uses Yahoo?
2. Its iPod mode is more advance than a actual iPod? Prove that while I load up a sound editing application on my Windows Mobile Smartphone and compress a soundclip. Can the iPhone/iPod do that?
3. Visual voicemail? What in the **** does that mean? How can voicemail be visual? Do you even read the gimmicks Apple throws out?.
The touchscreen thing has been done over, and over, and over by 100s of phones who are more expirenced in Apple.
A quarter of a billion people, apparently. And I will be one of the millions more who'll be signing up simply because it works with the iPhone.
If portable audio editing is important to you, you're obviously not in the target market. Still, I wouldn't rule out Apple later adding GarageBand Lite, since the iPhone does run OS X.
It means you view your voicemail like an e-mail inbox, and choose whichever you want to listen to, without having to go through them all sequentially.
Yet another person who thinks Multitouch is just another touchscreen. Obviously you'll have to try it yourself to "get it".

it has nothing to do with trendy, it has to do with functionality. i really wanted a powerful pda, which generally are priced around $350 or higher. and no, i don't consider palmOS to be functional. that phone you linked looks impressive, but what's the use of the SD when i consider 8GB to be quite enough for a mere $25 more? if you think i want to stay trendy, i think most of you just want to ****ing bitch online. that's all a lot of you immature ****ing pigs are about, just bitching. if something good is posted, someone's got to bitch. so bitch away, but please stew in your own ****ing disgusting environment and leave normal people out of it. i was expressing a POSITIVE opinion to someone bitching. and it happened to be true what i said! "i think you all just wanted to complain about something." i love being proved right.
to whomever said it had no apps, you're just lost. and if it's games you want, get a DS or PSP, not a phone.
Or a very nice computer upgrade.
