Microsoft plans to cut the price of its best-selling Xbox 360 Pro model by $50, to $299 in the next few weeks, the Hollywood Reporter reported citing anonymous sources. The price cut for the Xbox 360 model with the 20 gigabyte hard drive will come before the video game industry's biggest trade show, E3, taking place in Los Angeles on July 15-17, the report said. Rumors of the Xbox price cut swirled on popular gaming blogs Joystiq and Kotaku last week, with sites receiving snapshots of K-Mart and Radio Shack flyers advertising the $299 price. Not unexpectedly, a Microsoft spokeswoman declined to comment on the report.

Probably dropping the price so they can throw in the rumored 60gb for the current price of $350.
Oh well, still good deal. Getting closer to the Wii's price. Hell, for 50 dollars more than a Wii, it's still a killer deal.

The only question I have is if the rumored 60GB version is true, then are they going to add a 4th SKU OR are they going to replace either the Arcade version with the 20GB now, or just get rid of the 20GB version altogether?

I think having 4 SKU's is going overboard.

They will most likely drop the Arcade SKU.

Same here! This looks like a good enough excuse to get one now.

I got a PS3 but I might get one now considering I just beat MGS4 - the only reason I got a PS3

Meta: funny how the linked article doesn't use "SKU" anywhere in it, but somehow the gaming press feels the need to regurgitate market-speak.

Yes, annoying, isn't it.

I guess they must feel it makes them sound smarter or something.

Didn't MS send out refurb first Xbox's as new? I could be mistaken but I swore I bought a "new" Xbox and it had a 1.0 or 1.1 motherboard in it with a manufacture date that matches 1.4 or 1.5.
