Market analysts NPD have suggested that Microsoft’s one year old console topped the US hardware charts this Christmas. But the Wii only trailed by 200,000 units. Preliminary estimates suggested that the 360 sold 2million units in North America from the beginning of November up until December 25th.
Nintendo on the other hand are expected to have sold 1.8million units, but were hampered by a later launch date of November 19th, with all stock being sold out within hours of sale. Sony’s PS3 had a much larger stock problem, although these shortages seem to be eased recently. It is expected Sony sold 750,000 units before Christmas.
NPD are expected to release complete figures later this month.

The Wii kicks ass, and myself, my wife and all our friends have had some fun playing Rayman: Raving Rabbids (especially the carrot juice shooting one, it's definately a filthy one).
It sells well it some places and not so well it others... at least here in Norway you can get one if you were willing to drive a bit but in Oslo they were hard to get...
that's 3 million worldwide. I think the actual number was 4, but let's assume 3 for the moment. that means that's like 2 million for just the United States and 1 million for the rest of the world which is close to the numbers Nintendo originally predicted. there's no doubt they met their sales goal worldwide, and will meet their march estimate of 6 million consoles. I don't think they will sell 9 million like some overly optimistic analysts were predicting but we'll see, their fiscal year ends March 31 I believe. one thing is for sure with software sales, ds lite sales, and Wii sales, Nintendo is going ot make a killing on their annual report. Hell Microsoft might actually turn a profit on their games division this year.
My Wii is STILL on backorder and I have been told stocks in the USA and Canada wont see more units until mid January.
PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS sales probably dominated the charts (software AND hardware).
Plus if there were enough PlayStation 3s and Nintendo Wiis to go around, the Xbox 360 would have been near the BOTTOM of the list.
The Xbox360 sold more than the PS3 or Wii only because there were more of them to sell.
Isn't there some less biased news article someone could link to?
It's like somebody saying the only reason ds lite sold more than psp was because of the price difference, that's baloney give credit where credit is due. the ds lite is a great system and the xbox 360 is a great system too that deserves the sales it had.
so how is the article biased for stating a simple sales fact? that's just a statement of fact, the only bias is in your post.
So, IDC did can send some random numbers, saying "xbox360 sold.. let's say that 2 millions, and wii a little less... and let's say that ps3 sold almost nothing because they sound like a credible numbers".
FROM NOVEMBER 1st to December 25, lets see Xbox had an extra 19 days of sales, considering the WII came out on NOVEMBER 19th
What a useless article to fuel fanboys
