Take-Two have announced that the next GTA title will be ready at the end of Q4, 2004. Speaking at a conference in New York, T2's Executive VP, Cindi Buckwalter, announced that the game is expected in "in the back half of 2004, Q4." She decided however, not to put rumours to rest and didn't announce any title. Several Internet fan sites claim that the follow-up to GTA 3 and GTA:VC, will have a Las Vegas or LA theme.
Officially Take-Two are not too eager to comment since they have their hands full with the upcoming, and very promising, Manhunt, expected November 19, 2003. If T2 do as good a job in keeping this new project under wraps as they did with Manhunt, it is likely that we will know very little about it until late Q4, 2004.
In order to keep everyone interested until then however, Rockstar is planning a GTA 3 and GTA:VC Double Pack which will not only keep PS2 and PC users happy but which is expected, in November, to open up a new GTA market, that of the XBox.

- 2.51.68 Version - 01/11/2003
- The Import Preferences feature has been fixed to properly import your preferences everytime.
- The Word Duel easter egg internal protections have been improved.
- Several translations have been updated.
- Korean, Turkish and Galizian have been added!
- The Last Time Seen Online property for your contacts works better.
- A number between "1" and "20" can now be specified as parameter to the /persostat command to quickly use a pre-recorded Personalised Status.
- Bug fixed in the docking feature when using several monitors.
- Notification windows have been improved.
- Popups now display on top of the screen when your taskbar is at the top too.
- Popups always have the correct size and position, this is not depending on your version of MSN Messenger or Windows Messenger.
- When a notification popup is displayed, a Messenger Plus! icon flashes in your systray to be sure that you notice the popup.
- The scheduler has been improved.
- When not explicitly dismisssed (either by right clicking in the notification or clicking on the close button), notifications are displayed every 3 minutes, up to 3 times (can be modified with the new "SchedulerMaxRecall" registry key). You have no more excuses for missing your scheduled events now!
- Added a "SchedulerToastDelay" registry key to change the number of seconds scheduler notifications are kept displayed on the screen. The maximum allowed value is 60 seconds and it is not recommended to use a value above 30 seconds (this will block other notifications displayed by Messenger).
- When the "CommandErrorMessage" registry setting is set to "0", bad commands are sent as text, as previous versions of Messenger Plus! did.
- Full international support for dates and times displayed everywhere in the software.
- The TimeFormatAmPm registry key is obsolete.
- The most noticeable changements related will probably be the use of AM/PM time when required and month names in your own language for the log archive directories.
- The (!DD) and (!DM) tags now display the full name of the current day or month.
- The Date and Time tags for registry settings have been modified. To avoid backward compatibility problems, registry settings that use these tags have been renamed.
- New registry setting: "ChatLogTimeStampFmt". You can use it to modify the way time stamps are written at the beginning of each line in chat logs.
- The Instant Lock reactivation bug is finally fixed! clicking on the Messenger icon can no longer reactivate Messenger without the password.
- Your name is no more automatically changed back for no reason, when you sign-on, when you use Personalised Statuses.
- Bid thanks to Dane for his precious help on this version.
- Some other bug fixes and small improvements you probably won't notice :).

taking a year for a pc port is too long of a wait but its well worth it
been a super great boy this year. please have a city at elast twice as big as vice and throw in some supported and complete multiplayer! in fact, let the city be populated entirely with online players! it'd be like everquest, only a whole lot less nerdy! think about it... you'd actually have to be a real badass and better than everyone else to make it to the top!
please don't be sell outs and make the game console exclusive then wait for eons to release it for the PC
basically saying: Don't wait too long to release the PC version. Thats it.
Your post got me thinking. GTA IV crossed with Interstate 76......
hmmmmmmmmm
mp will take ALL the fun outta the original idea of gta. although i play mp with gta:vc i dont want rockstar to consentrate on mp. i want their dedication to be fullly to sp. and another thing i hope they keep the specs down this time around. gta vc required a 800mhz to play. A game shouldnt ask for THAT much power.
PS: dont worry about PC as rockstar will ALWAYS realese its gta games for PC because it was the first "CONSOLE" to be realeased on. and im happy that sony's contract with rockstar has expired so now gta comes to the xbox. better graffics (then a pc) and no mem card required!
What world are you living in? Let's see an xbox run 1600x1200 with 4x FSAA and 8x AF!
Only if you count the heavily OC'd P4's that are chilled to sub-zero temperatures. Btw, the physics in MP2 is called havok.
Eh? Please know what you're talking about before posting. XBox uses a streamlined geforce 3. It may have better graphics than your machine, but not the computer in general.
Every speculation I've heard has been that it's going to be "San Andreas" (San Francisco based) since the original GTA had Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas. Where'd this Vegas/LA bull**** come from?
They could at least have said something like 'Oh well, we are hoping for a Q4 2004 release, but to be sure, summer 2005'
GTA: San Andreas
What they should do IMO, is add some highways/country sides. Then you can drag out some cop chases for a LONG time. I play just to get caught and drive away from the cops sometimes.
too bad all the xbox foks would be stuck with live and not be able to join in with the ps2 /pc crowd
